And according to a Census Bureau projection, the elderly population in the United States will more than double between now and the year 2050, to 80 million people.

Preventing Breast Cancer

The American Cancer Society reports that there is no “sure way” to prevent breast cancer. However, early detection is critical and can mean the difference between life and death. Avoiding alchohol, exercising regularly and maintaining a proper body weight are good lifestyle habits and may help decrease the risk of developing this disease. Breast feeding and avoiding PHT are other ways to reduce the risk of breast cancer.

Early detection can be made possible by self -breast check and a routine mammogram for women.

According to the American Cancer Society, approximately 40,000 people die from breast cancer in the US each year. Globally, according to the World Conference on Breast Cancer, 400,000 people die annually from this disease.
